Earlier in the week, we had reports of yellow fin tuna to 50kgs off Kiama. Bandit Reef has been producing mixed bags of snapper, pigfish and big mowies on Hawkesbury prawns, squid and slimey fillets. Live baits are still catching dollies off the Port Hacking FAD. Prawns, pillies and slimey fillets have been accounting for good catches of flathead in 40mtr off Burning Palms. Spinning with metal slices and 100mil squid skirts at spots such as Malabar and Julians has had good results on mac tuna to 4kg, big tailor and big salmon.
BOTANY BAY - GEORGE'S RIVER
Land based around Brighton Baths has been a great spot for good bags of whiting, bream, tarwine and flathead with Z Man Grubz, Suga Pen Lures, peled prawns and worms all working. A lucky bream fisho got a nice surprise when two peeled prawn baits turned into two mulloway of 80cm and 82cm while fishing under Captain Cook Bridge. There’s been good catches of big quid taken from the eastern side of Bear Island. Trolling small skirts and hard body lures further out towards shakies have been working for bonito and salmon.
Juno Point has been fishing well for Mulloway to 1-1mtr. Butter flied yellow tail and live squid best bait
Just inside Jibbon, there’s been flathead on the bottom and bonito and tailor providing surface action, pilchards best bait.
Drifting Lilly Pilly channel has been yeidling Salmon, flathead and a couple of blue swimmer crabs on line.
It’s still okay to go fishing! Just make sure you follow the social distancing rules!
